Wig Wholesale MOQ: How We Set Minimums, and How to Start Small

MOQ is the first number every wholesale buyer asks about and the number suppliers most often play games with. Some quote an artificially low minimum to hook you, then recover the margin in unit price. Others quote a high one because they are a trading company passing your order to a factory whose real minimum they do not control. Here is our MOQ logic in plain terms — the same logic whether you are buying twenty wigs or twenty thousand.

Why MOQs Exist at All

A MOQ is not a gatekeeping tactic; it is setup cost made visible. Before a single wig ships, someone has to sort hair to your spec, set the texture, configure the line for your cap construction, print your private label packaging if you have it, and brief the workers and QC inspectors on your approved sample. That work costs roughly the same whether the run is fifty units or five thousand. The MOQ is simply the point where the factory can do all of it properly while still quoting you an honest unit price. Any supplier offering "no MOQ" on custom production is either absorbing that cost into the unit price — quietly — or skipping the setup work, which you will discover at QC.

Our MOQ Structure

We keep the structure simple and put the real numbers in your quotation rather than inventing a universal figure:

How New Buyers Start Small

The path we recommend, and the one most of our long-term buyers actually walked: order samples first and treat them as your market research. Put the units in customers' hands, gather feedback, then place the first bulk order in the stock styles closest to your winners. Only then scale into custom specs — custom density, custom colors, full private label — funded by sales data rather than hope. This sequencing keeps your cash in inventory that has already proven it sells, and it keeps our setup work focused on specs that matter. The full customization workflow is on our OEM/ODM process page.

How Price Scales With Volume

Volume pricing is not a negotiation trick; it is the setup cost from the first section, spread thinner. The same line setup serves a bigger run, hair buying gets more efficient at larger lots, and packing and shipping consolidate. We lay this out as explicit tiers in your quotation — quantity, unit price, and the next break — so you can see exactly what the next tier is worth and decide with real numbers whether to stretch for it. What we will not do is quote a low unit price that quietly assumes a quantity you never agreed to.

MOQ FAQ

What is your MOQ for wholesale wigs?

It depends on the product line and customization level. Stock-style wigs and machine-made categories start from low quantities; full custom OEM runs are quoted per project because the sensible minimum depends on spec complexity. The exact number is stated plainly in your quotation.

Why do factories have MOQs at all?

Because setup is real work. Sorting hair for a spec, setting texture, printing private label packaging and briefing a production line all cost the same whether the run is small or large. The MOQ is the point where the factory can do that work properly without padding the unit price.

How can a new buyer start with a small order?

Start with a sample order to lock the spec, then a first bulk order in stock styles, which carry our lowest minimums. Scale into custom specs once your sales data tells you what your market actually buys.

Does the unit price drop at higher volumes?

Yes. Volume pricing is laid out in tiers in your quotation, so you can see exactly what the next quantity break is worth before you commit to it.
